MAGNA has participated in the third edition of the International Mining Congress<\/a> held this week in Seville. The event, which has brought together more than 10,000 people, is a world reference in the sector in which the world reference mining industries meet to share knowledge, experience and future perspectives of the mining sector.<\/p>\n

Framed in the scientific program, specifically at the workshop about \u201cChallenges and opportunities of the industrial rock and mineral sector\u201d, the CEO, Javier Creixell, explained that in the 21st century, \u201cwe work in responsible mining\u201d committed with the Sustainable Development Goals, being an engine of economic development and population fixation in rural areas. He also stressed the evolution experienced by extractive and industrial activity, applying the latest technologies, improving efficiency in all processes and integrating the principles of respect and environmental protection and sustainability in their daily activity, \u201cconfiguring one of the sectors with greater environmental commitment \u201d.<\/p>\n

Creixell pointed out that Spain is one of the countries with the greatest capacity and potential to generate mineral resources in Europe, where magnesite is a key and essential mineral in sectors very important and strategic such as the steel industry, animal and vegetable food or environment. In addition, he advocated informative initiatives to train, raise awareness and sensitize citizens about the need for minerals and promote communication, dialogue and transparency actions with stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Throughout the three days of the Congress in which 70 speakers have taken part, many issues about the future of the sector have been treated,\u00a0 such as circular economy, the management of biodiversity in extractive activity or\u00a0 innovation and research for future of the mining.<\/p>\n
